Mo-faya is The seven-part series, described as a drama with a touch of telenovela, unfolds predominantly in Nairobi with glimpses of Western Kenya, rarely seen on our screens. It’s a story of a group of university students who, trying to keep up with peer pressure of life, they are students during the day but moonlight at night in petty robbery in cahoots with the area cops. 

It follows 20-year-old Zawadie who after unravelling a shocking past about her parents, sets out to map an independent future with her new boyfriend, Brian—a young man who leads a dangerous double life. Her police officer father is assigned to hunt down a notorious gang of criminals, unaware that his daughter and Brian are at the very heart of the syndicate.

Mo-Faya stars a predominantly young cast of Lorna Lemi (Nairobby), Brahim Ouma (Pepeta), Tobit Tom and Mathew Ngugi are the biggest newcomers in the show. Also feauturing  Tessy Njine (Selina), media personality Cate Rira, and Alex Mwakideu (Nafsi).

 Notably, Odanga is known for directing and producing the long-running, Kalasha-winning telenovela Selina, which captivated audiences over five seasons before coming to an end in 2022. Mo-Faya marks his first series on Netflix, following the premiere of his debut feature film, Nafsi, on the global streaming platform in 2022.

“Mo-Faya is raw and developed on the backdrop of realism. It’s reflective of who we are away from the filters of social media. The show pegs the importance of present and responsible  parenting as the foundation of building wholesome individuals who become the future citizenry, says Odanga.
